Can you name the cities these defunct sports teams came from?

Call your shots!

 The Everett Collection

Some of these teams folded. Others moved to a different city, with a new name. But, where does the fandom go? Are the cheers still there, hanging over the former sight of each field, each stadium?

We're testing your memory today. We'll name a team that no longer exists. You tell us what city they're from. Simple as.

Good luck, and be sure to share your score in the comments section below!

  1. Whalers
  2. Senators
  3. Oilers
  4. Thrashers
  5. Expos
  6. Bullets
  7. Barons
  8. Scouts
  9. Nordiques
  10. Pilots

The stadium was garbage but the Expos had some really good teams over the years. Might have won the World Series in 1994.

Le Grand Orange!
I got a kick out of listening to the Expos PA announce the player coming to bat,
and his position, in French.

Amazingly, I got 8/10!
(My sports knowledge is such that, until the Braves moved their stadium a few miles from my home about 8 years ago, I was blissfully unaware that they weren't in Boston.)
I missed the first and last ones.
On #4, I do recall hearing some suggestions that the name be changed to the "Thrashees".

8/10. A lot of muscle memory went into recalling these.

9/10 I missed #8. #6 was a lucky guess. All I could think of was the Washington Bullets.
I recall discussions years ago that they wanted to change that name to disassociate themselves from violence, and someone suggested they change the name to just "The Bullets".

7/10, some of these I have never heard of. Interesting fact about The Seattle Pilots; Came into MLB as an expansion franchise in 1969 (along with three other teams) and left Seattle after only playing there one year. They became the Milwaukee Brewers. Jim Bouton recounted that season in his excellent book 'Ball Four;.
