Can you tell the difference between Loretta Swit and Sally Kellerman?

Both of them played Hot Lips, but only one appeared on Star Trek.

We call her Margaret, but most know her as "Hot Lips." This 4077th nurse remains one of the most beloved M*A*S*H characters — in both in the original 1970 film and the 1972 television series.

The multitalented Sally Kellerman and Loretta Swit portrayed Margaret in those classics, respectively. Elsewhere, they had rather different careers. See if you can tell them apart!

13/13 I’m surprised 😮 I didn’t know I paid that much attention 😂😊. But I always liked Margaret Houlihan.

Swit and Kellerman were both fine actresses, and yeah, they do look somewhat alike. Why did Swit get the tv role instead of Kellerman? Did Kellerman not want it? Was she asked? Just saying. Interestingly, they were both the same age, born 1937.

11 of 12. 'High School' question threw me off.

There was one other difference between the movie and the series: The characters name was Margaret Houlihan in the TV series but was Margaret O'Houlihan in the movie.

BTW, 12 of 13.

12/13 - Sally Kellerman was very good in a number of roles beyond "Hot Lips" including in "Back To School" and on Alfred Hitchcock and Mannix.

Actually, the one question I wish somebody would answer is what the hell Margaret ever saw in Frank Burns ("the lipless wonder") and Donald the cheating dork.

you have to watch the movie. the TV pales in comparison and things make a whole lot more sense than the silly TV show.
Moverfan JonathanLeslie 47 months ago
I've seen the movie--and loved the movie--but I still can't figure out what Margaret saw in the lipless wonder.

I've often wondered about Margaret's "POOR CHOICE IN MEN", myself. Even Scully(Joshua Bryant) wasn't very much of an improvement, if you ask me. LOL!
Moverfan DIGGER1 46 months ago
Maybe not...but Scully was more of a fling than anything serious, I'd think.

Two comments Its a bird it's a plane it's Superman was a stage musical on Broadway staring Alice's own Linda Lavin in the mid sixties second comment Cagney and Lacey was supposed to star Loretta Swit but Mash was in it's Final season and Alan Alda wouldn't let her leave thus the role went to Sharon Gless
Tresix Randall 50 months ago
Before Gless, Meg Foster (she of the sexily-bizarre eyes) played Christine Cagney. They replaced her with Gless because most viewers thought Foster looked too “butch”.
