Cover Song Quiz

Do you know who originally recorded these famous tunes?

 The Everett Collection

Here's a fun game: Next time you listen to the radio, see how many cover songs you hear. They're everywhere!

Some like to quibble about the difference between a cover and a remake. While we're interested in that discussion, we chiefly want to know who sang the song first, regardless of how it was interpreted later.

We'll name the artist of the second version, you tell us who was the first. Good luck, have fun, and be sure to share your score in the comments section below!

  1. Jimi Hendrix - "All Along the Watchtower"
  2. Whitney Houston - "I Will Always Love You"
  3. Soft Cell - "Tainted Love"
  4. Tiffany - "I Think We're Alone Now"
  5. UB40 - "Red Red Wine"
  6. Sinead O'Connor - "Nothing Compares 2 U"
  7. Ace of Base - "Don't Turn Around"
  8. The Clash - "I Fought the Law"
  9. Nirvana - "The Man Who Sold the World"
  10. Janis Joplin - "Me and Bobby McGee"

9/10. I sure didn't know that "Don't Turn Around" by Ace of Base was a cover that had originally been done by Tina Turner. Overall though, not bad, not bad at all.

7/10 Only real surprise for me is that Neil Diamond wrote "Red Red Wine". I never heard him sing it until today.

7/10 an even better cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" was done by Lene Lovich. of course, that is only my opinion.
