Do you recognize these classic TV stars on the eerie series Thriller?

The anthology series had a killer cast.

When it comes to horror, you can trust the opinion of Stephen King. In his non-fiction book Danse Macabre, the prolific author looked back at the classic anthology shows of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

King singled "Pigeons from Hell" as "one of the finest horror stories of our century." No, that tale was not an episode of The Twilight Zone nor The Outer Limits. It was a 1961 episode of Thriller, the eerie and underrated anthology series hosted by Boris Karloff.

Who better to host a spooky show? The Universal monster movies legend had played both Frankenstein's monster in Frankenstein and Imhotep in The Mummy.

Karloff acted in some of the episodes, too. The Thriller cast also included dozens of rising television stars. Let's see if you can recognize them!

  1. He seemed to always get the girl — even in outer space. You know him best as…?
  2. These two were in different Thriller episodes, but they eventually teamed up in…?
  3. These two eventually ended up where?
  4. You know her best as the mom on…?
  5. You could find him as this fellow in Mayberry…
  6. He became a secret agent — but which one?
  7. You know her better as this character.
  8. She later worked for which fictional station?
  9. You know him better as this helpful hand.
  10. She later headlined her own sitcom. Which one?

I agree! The best shows, such as "Thriller," " Alfred Hitchcock Presents," and "Twilight Zone," are on sooo late, or not at all.

While Me-TV has rerun MTM's S1 THRILLER appearance, "The Fatal Impulse", where she has a minor role, it has never rerun her S2 THRILLER appearance, "Man of Mystery". She made this episode when she was already starring as Laura Petrie on DVD SHOW, and she has a more substantial starring role in it. I hope Me-TV will show it this time around.

Last night,MeTv ran an episode with Joyce Bullifont which i'm pretty certain featured the Psycho house! Bonus Question: What Classic TV role was she hired for but replaced at the last moment? And yes, it's on MeTV!

Ms. Bulifant was the original choice to play Carol Brady on THE BRADY BUNCH.

Yes, she was going to be "the lovely lady" until Florence Henderson became available!
Guess Joyce didn't have Wessonality.
MarkSpeck cperrynaples 61 months ago
She did wind up on Me-TV as Murray Slaughter's wife on MTM.

I recall Joyce playing a teacher on "The Bill Cosby Show" in 1969 or 70.

No. 10 was hard. The lady looked like Shelly Fabrese actually. And I don't even remember RV in a Thriller episode. I'll have to look for that one.
MarkSpeck Pacificsun 61 months ago
Shelly Fabrese? Does she smell really nice? LOL!
cperrynaples MarkSpeck 61 months ago
Clearly, Pacificsun meant Shelly Fabares, best remembered as Donna Reed's daughter!
Pacificsun cperrynaples 61 months ago
Yes, I was just too tired to look it up! Please whack me with a soggy TV Guide!
