Guess the biggest songs of Summer 1979 from the first lines of the first verse

"Happy days are here again…"

The summer of 1979 was a scorcher, and we're not talking about the weather. Groovy tracks were booming from speakers everywhere, from car stereos to disco soundsystems. Heck, even KISS and Kenny Rogers hits were funky.

The top hits of summer '79 continue to spin today. You certainly recognize them when you hear them — but how about when you simply read them?

We took the first lines of the first verse of several huge '79 summer hits. (In some cases, the songs kicked off with the chorus — and the title of the song — which was far too easy.) So good luck!
  1. This Blondie song begins "Once I had a love and it was a gas…"
  2. This Peaches & Herb slow jam was No. 1 on Memorial Day and began, "I was a fool to ever leave your side / Me minus you is such a lonely ride…"
  3. This rock smash starts off, "Here come the jesters, 1-2-3 / It's all part of my fantasy…"
  4. After the intro chorus, this Cheap Trick hit goes, "I'll shine up my old brown shoes / I'll put on a brand new shirt…"
  5. The biggest hit of the entire year began, "Ooh, my little pretty one, my pretty one / When you gonna give me some time…"
  6. This disco smash begins, "I'm glad you're home / Now did you really miss me? / I guess you did…"
  7. This monster disco jam has a first verse that goes, "Happy days are here again…"
  8. One of the biggest rock songs of '79, this summer hit begins, "When I was young, it seemed the life was so wonderful / A miracle / Oh, it was beautiful, magical…"
  9. Pick the Donna Summer song of summer that began, "Sittin' here, eatin' my heart out waitin' / Waitin' for some lover to call…"
  10. This hit has a first verse that begins, "Everyone can see we're together / As we walk on by / And we fly just like birds of a feather…"
  11. This Bee Gees hit began, "Baby, I can't figure it out / Your kisses taste like honey / Sweet lies don't gimme no lies"
  12. "How come he don't come and P.L.P. with me / Down at the meter no more?"

10/12. The two that I missed I had narrowed the choices down to two and it ended up being my second choice.

12/12; Fun, challenging and tricky questions. I knew all those songs but had to guess on a few and got them all.
