How well do you know Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.?

It takes a true TV trivia ace to say "Shazam!" at the end of this one!

He is one of the most beloved characters in television history. No wonder this Mayberry mechanic got his own spin-off, after he enlisted.

Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. took the charming comedy tone of The Andy Griffith Show and applied it respectfully to the armed forces. Gomer may have been simple, but he was a good soldier. No wonder the real Marine Corps honored actor Jim Nabors twice in 2001 and 2007.

Let's see how well you know the character Gomer Pyle, his fellow Marines, his friends, and his sitcom. These questions will either have you saying "Shazam!" or "Suprise, surprise, surprise."

  1. What is Gomer Pyle's rank in the Marines?
  2. Is Gomer Pyle ever promoted beyond that rank over the course of the show?

That was easy peasy, I have been watching over pile every night for the last 45 years how can I miss anything, it's just like The rifleman I actually know everything word for word when they're going to do it and how long it's going to take and who they're going to meet, easy peasy just like I said

Gomer had NO Rank on his sleeve. He took the test 3 times to get promoted. He Finally passed it and came back and said he made PFC skipping right over Private. Technically Private is 1st then PFC. But he was not wearing the Private insignia before being promoted to PFC...Private First Class.

You're probably thinking of the army when you say that. Because in the marines, privates don't have a rank on their sleeve, but PFCs do have one chevron on their sleeve, though

This is not St. Patrick's Day. I'm not out of town either. And I'm not on here everyday like I used to because I have school work to focus on. And I told y'all that a couple months ago. And I assumed that y'all already knew by now that I'm not on here on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. But y'all will still get to hear from me. But not on those days at least

25/25. I'm officially a resource for totally useless information.

I got 21-25 it asked question about things that were not involved on the show. Like a highway named for him and other spin-off shows. If it only asked questions about the show I would have scored a 100.

I noticed that when the platoon is cleaning up the area around the barracks, the brooms and rakes are never touching the ground. What a goof!
dreadgold2001 gouldsrich 27 months ago
Lol. I never noticed that.

The first two questions are not exactly correct. Gomer was a Private (E1) the entire first season and was promoted to PFC at the beginning of the second season.

I've seen every episode a hundred times and I don't recall him ever being a E 1. Maybe the pilot episode.
KeithGraham billtabor61 24 months ago
You go in as an E-1
