How well do you know Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.?

It takes a true TV trivia ace to say "Shazam!" at the end of this one!

He is one of the most beloved characters in television history. No wonder this Mayberry mechanic got his own spin-off, after he enlisted.

Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. took the charming comedy tone of The Andy Griffith Show and applied it respectfully to the armed forces. Gomer may have been simple, but he was a good soldier. No wonder the real Marine Corps honored actor Jim Nabors twice in 2001 and 2007.

Let's see how well you know the character Gomer Pyle, his fellow Marines, his friends, and his sitcom. These questions will either have you saying "Shazam!" or "Suprise, surprise, surprise."

That episode was a scream. Duke talks Gomer into taking him to the airport to say goodbye to Duke’s stewardess girlfriend when all Gomer was supposed to do was run an errand to pick up a certain brand of cigars for Sargent Carter for a visiting congressman. Gomer and Duke get stuck on an airplane hiding in the lavoratory when they see Sargent Carter, and the plane takes off before they can get off. They fly to Rome, then Paris then London where Gomer at the last minute buys some cigars...not the brand he was supposed to get, but he had no choice. By the time they finally get back to Camp Henderson, Carter is fit to be tied. He takes the cigars to Colonel Gray for the congressman, but it all turns out great because this brand of cigars was the congressman’s favorite. He wanted to know where they got them, because the only place he ever saw them was in England. Carter tells Gomer that even though he screwed up big time he wanted him to go back to the same place where he got them should they need to buy more! The final puzzle to Carter was when Gomer gives him the change from the box of cigars in English pence! So funny. One of my all time favorite episodes along with Captain Ironpants!!

The Answer to Question 1 was “Rhinoceros”, a very weird movie about people turning into rhinos 😆 It Stars Gene Wilder, Zero Mostel, and Karen Black. Just to clarify the clues, the movie I mentioned them co-starring in before this was “The Producers”, and I put the picture of the Zoo Animals because there was a rhino in the photo! Congrats to LoveMETV22 for getting this Correct!

The answer to Question 2 was “Night at The Museum”, a movie that though it is about Museum exhibits coming to life, is a lot less weird than Rhinoceros! 😆 It stars Ben Stiller, Robin Williams and Carla Gugino. It also has a cameo appearance from Anne Meara, one half of the comedy duo of Stiller and Meara (AKA, Ben Stiller’s Mom and Dad) And it also stars Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney! ( Spoiler alert, they play VILLIANS 😬)

Just to Clarify the clues, the silhouette of the chimney sweep was a reference to Dick Van Dyke’s character in Mary Poppins. The clue I gave to signify Robin Williams was a robin wearing a Popeye hat (Robin Williams played Popeye in a movie). And the photo of the vinyl record was “Mickey” by Toni Basil, which was my very vague, very silly clue that “Mickey” Rooney was in it (“Oh Mickey you’re so fine, You’re so fine you blow my mind hey Mickey! 😆 😜) by the way that only makes since if you’ve heard the song😆 anyways Congrats to Pacificsun for getting that one right!

Oh yeah and, the thing I said about Owen Wilson having a SMALLER role was because, in the movie, he plays a tiny figurine!
lynngdance lynngdance 16 days ago
Oh, and Bill Cobbs is also one of the villains in it.

And the Answer to the Bonus Question was Tina Tracey, who is the name of character in the Gomer Pyle USMC episode where nobody believes that Gomer met a Movie Star! Congratulations to Moriyah for getting that right!
