From 1998 to 2007, an annual collection of short stories titled Star Trek: Brave New Worlds gathered works written by amateurs via open submissions. Now, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, Pocket Books is reviving the contest for 2016.
According to the press release, "ten grand prize winners will have their stories published as part of an all-new official anthology in print and eBook formats. Additionally, two first prize winners will receive a free self-publishing package from Archway Publishing." So put on your thinking caps and boldly go where no Star Trek story has gone before.
You have a little over two months. The deadline for Star Trek: Brave New Worlds submissions is January 15, 2016, and winners will be announced on March 31. The panel of judges has yet to be named. Even the cover art will be fan-made. You can find out more at Startrekbooks.com.
