Jamie Farr dieted to look better in women's clothes

But then, don't we all?

Oh, the pressures of style. Suffering fashion is nothing new, especially for women. A world of factors has conspired to ensure we don't think we look good unless we're uncomfortable. It's one of the universal truths. Sure, some of us might feel occasionally okay in our own skin, but there's just no money in that way of thinking. The corporate powers of capitalism want us to believe we're only at our best if we've paid a lot for the opportunity.

Jamie Farr was no stranger to the latest trends. His time on M*A*S*H afforded him the finer things in life— according to a 1978 interview, Farr wore the latest from Pierre Cardin and Yves St. Laurent in his private life.

However, Farr's onscreen role— Cpl. Klinger— wore a lot of women's clothes. This is where Farr began to hurt for haute couture.

"Oh, the Fox studio has a mannequin of me in Ladies' Wardrobe."

While his attire was chosen by experts, the famous actor found keeping up appearances to be a chore. A mannequin's weight doesn't fluctuate the way a human's does, and Farr found that he needed to diet.

Because he was of Lebanese descent, Jamie Farr favored a lot of rich Middle Eastern food, and quickly learned he'd need to change his eating habits to keep fitting into his character's skirts.

"I get these periodic hankerings," he lamented, "and I gorge myself. But then, my waistline doesn't fare well."

Fairly, Farr faired far fairer with fairer fare.

the colors are all wrong - and it looks like there is a black border around his "cut-out"

Looks like something I might do with my low-tech capabilities. 😄

I can see pics being out of focus - I see that all the time on Perry Mason ; the female camera shots are almost always softened and the male shots ; the focus is very sharp and detailed

the color doesn't look correct

Interesting that you said that about Perry Mason. I remember seeing one episode in particular where I felt that they showed the actress who was the defendant in very soft focus. It seemed very strange to me and I wondered why they did that. 🤔

It blurs the wrinkles on women - remember the show Moonlighting?

Cybil was always showed in softer focus ; Bruce wasn't . I don't mean to sound demeaning.
