Lynda Goodfriend joked about naming Richie's future son in Happy Days after Opie Taylor
Like father, like son!
The past can be a funny thing. You can't live a good life with one foot in the past, but it doesn't do anyone any good to put all of their energy into forgetting their past. The best thing to do is be thankful for your past because it helped shape who you are, before heading towards your future.
Ron Howard's past, present, and future centered around the big screen. Coming from a family of actors, it seemed that Howard was destined to follow in the footsteps of his parents. For a while, that's the way it seemed to work out. Howard played little Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show, securing a place in audiences' hearts before moving on to play Richie Cunningham in Happy Days.
It seemed that audiences were able to grow up with Howard, who had no issue reminiscing about the roles that made him famous. Even after Howard left acting to follow his dream of directing, Howard would frequently reunite with his former Happy Days costars, and always spoke highly of those he worked with on The Andy Griffith Show.
During an interview with The Leader-Post, Lynda Goodfriend commended Howard on his work ethic as an actor. Goodfriend was best known for playing Lori Beth, Richie's longtime girlfriend, and later, wife.
"Ronnie's grown up as a comedian," she said. "We did a Valentine's special this year. We did a fantasy and we were both supposed to dance. I was trained as a dancer, but Ronnie had no background. He was wonderful."
Goodfriend even made a joke about Howard's childhood role. "The show will go at least two more years," she said of Happy Days. "There's talk about us getting married. We could have a child and name him Opie."
