Marion Ross said that a part of her ''envied'' her character on Happy Days
Would you be able to fill the shoes of Marion Cunningham?
Our society places so much importance on keeping one's youth, that it can be difficult to think of any benefit to getting older. Media has skewed how we view age; the reality is, that there are tons of benefits to getting older. More than anything, the most important improvement in getting older is actually an influx of self-confidence.
A successful actor, Marion Ross spent many years in the public eye. During an interview, Ross explained that for many years, she was preoccupied with her looks early on in her career. As she got older, however, she found herself able to lose those shackles and was instead able to concentrate on the content of the character she was playing.
"I went through so many years when I was concerned that I should always look beautiful," said Ross in a conversation with a Fort Pierce Tribune journalist. "No more. Now I just want good parts."
Ross enjoyed critical acclaim during her time as Marion Cunningham on Happy Days.
"I enjoy what I do on Happy Days very much," said Ross. "Next year will be our seventh season. And now I hear they are already thinking about an eighth and ninth, and that is fine with me."
Playing the role of a mother and wife didn't bother Ross. In fact, she admitted that at times, she was jealous of Marion Cunningham.
"Actually, one part of me envies Marion, and wishes I could have that kind of life myself," said Ross. "Of course, there's another part of me that would hate to be her. But she's just right for the show."
