Starring on Emergency! nearly made Kevin Tighe go back to school to study medicine
The actor explained his many interests.
In order to be happy, it's best to do what you love, whether it's an interest, a hobby, or a career. Through these pursuits, you keep yourself open to discovering new things to enjoy about life.
Kevin Tighe was an actor, but it was his passion for entertainment that led him to gain a few other hobbies that he was equally devoted to.
Tighe was one of the stars of Emergency! where he played rescue squad member Roy DeSoto.
During an interview with the Palladium-Item, Tighe explained before he joined the cast of the hit series, he actually taught acting to others, having obtained a Master of Fine Arts from USC. In fact, Tighe nearly went back to school to gain his doctorate, before ultimately deciding against it. While intelligence is power, Tighe cautioned against too much knowledge.
"You cram so much cotton knowledge into your head, you can't hear yourself talk later," he said.
After he'd gained his footing as an actor, Tighe began pursuing other creative pursuits. The actor explained that he had an interest in producing documentaries revolving around American history. "The idea is to tell people the things that exist in America, like the history of strip minings or the beginnings of jazz in New Orleans," he said.
Playing a member of a rescue team also left a lasting impact on Tighe, who also said that he was potentially interested in pursuing medicine as well. "I'm very interested in it," he said. "Some of the interest is due to the show. Harbor General Hospital has been very good to me. They have let me come down and watch operations. If some of my other plans don't pan out, I may study pre-med."
