Your Me Madness 2025: Famous Phrases winner!

We take a look at your winner, plus the phrases that came close to taking the gold!

This year, you turned out to vote in Me Madness in record numbers. Starting from 64 famous phrases, you narrowed down the selection one by one through difficult choices until only one remained.

After six rounds, it came down to two finalists.

Your Me Madness 2025 champion is...

"What's up, doc?" from Bugs Bunny and Friends!

Yes, the carrot-munching wascally wabbit has stolen the gold! Did you know that Mel Blanc would go through buckets of carrots while recording? Despite an urban legend, he wasn't actually allergic.

That's fortunate because while Blanc was recovering from a serious accident, children sent him carrots and well wishes to the hospital.

Let's look at a few other phrases you voted into the final rounds!

Your runner-up is "Same bat-time, same bat-channel!" from Batman! Do you know who announced the phrase at the end of each episode? Hint: It isn't Adam West.

Tied for third is another Looney Tunes classic: "Th-th-th-th-th-that's all, folks!" Fun Fact: Mel Blanc went to a pig farm to get the voice of Porky right.

The stuttering pig shares the bronze with the Three Stooges' "Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!"

Your other Elite Eight finishers are:

"Ayyyy!" from Happy Days. Henry Winkler once called a 5-year-old Fonzie superfan in the hospital to reassure her before her surgery (and give her a real-life "Ayyyy!"

"Live long and prosper" from Star Trek. Leonard Nimoy, who says the line as Spock, was once the target of such fervent Spockmania that he had to escape from fans via a firetruck.

"I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" from Bugs Bunny and Friends (making their third appearance in the top eight! MeTV fans love their cartoons!) See how well you know Tweety with this fun quiz!

"I'm a doctor, not a..." also from Star Trek rounds out the "Elite Eight." Deforest Kelley, who says the oft-quoted phrase as Bones, had his final film role as the voice of the Viking 1 spacecraft.

Listen up people, being paranoid about this whole contest being a conspiracy is a waste of energy. Before you get all mad at me, stop and think: Does it really matter if this was or wasn't a big conspiracy? To me, what matters is that I had fun voting for my favorite catchphrase, and even if that catchphrase didn't win, it was still fun! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that most everybody had a fun time voting, and while it IS disappointing if our favorite catchphrase doesn't make the cut(and don't get me wrong, I was VERY disappointed that The Three Stooges catchphrase didn't make it to the finals!), it's okay because we can still be happy that we had fun voting.

These poles are in fact strategically set up rigged to basically guarantee the basic prefigured outcome! in looking at them and who they pit against shows that! pitting an obvious phrase against a basically unpopular one sets that up then it plays down etc! I myself like the “Get Smart” catch phrase -"Would You Believe" was not even in the poles! nor was -"You Rang” what Lurch said in the “Addams Family” and to show the details of even that it was also said regularly by Maynard G Krebs in “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" so these 2/3 phrases were not even in the pole and even the ones that were in the pole I picked over the final winner so again they are strategically set up /rigged-I would of liked to have seen the above phrases also in the pole! and also even the detail that both Maynard G. Krebs and Lurch both used that Phrase etc! etc!

I don't think that MeTV offers those catchphrases as options because those shows are not on MeTV...sure, that stinks, but it's logical.

Will everyone please STOP with the rigged comments, just because it doesn't align with what you want or think?! For cryin' out loud you guys are malcontents. It is what it is. Bugs cartoons span many generations. "What's Up Doc?" was said on perhaps EVERY episode. I grew up in the 60's as a kid. This was locked into my memory. Yeah, some others are profoundly memorable as well. But don't go all sour with rigged conspiracy junk. Be Happy! It's funner!

They should put all the phrases out and let people pick their favorite... then take the top 10 do it again then the top 5 Pairing them off left so many good catch phrases against each other. I find it hard to believe the majority were from cartoons and star trek.... Not a good poll !

About the stupid observation that it's weighted on MeTV shows...
They couldn't use pics from shows that they are forbidden to use. So while they COULD say a quote, how do you visually show that?
example: Einstein's family charges huge $$$$$ to pictures of their 3rd cousin twice removed.... so piss off, they didn't use any of his quotes
give 'em a break... don't like it? do your own survey....

They forgot the most important catchphrase. Actually 2. “I have a store?” or “Berwyn?”

Results seem suspect to me... I think the whole thing was rigged to support MeTV Toons!!!
Gee, just what we need, another conspiracy theory! L O L
Just what we need, another Smart A**!!!
Hey, be nice. No need to be mean just because someone is stating their opinion.

I wish they would show the bracket and the vote totals per contest. Wouldn’t mind seeing how close some contests were.

Very fun contest each year! I have to say, I'm shocked "Same bat time..." did so well - I would have thought "Holy ____, Batman!" would do better than that. The winner was certainly worthy, however. I also thought, "Nip it in the bud!" should have gone further. Even the 22 year old interns at my office know that reference! My personal favorite is "Ayyy!" - but, then, I grew up watching Happy Days. Good memories. I'd have also given some love to "Dy-no-MITE!"

"Holy cowell k-nowel Batman, what now?!"

"Dy-no-MITE!" is from Good Times. I think Good Times isn't on METV. That is why it wasn't considered.

This contest did what it was intended to do. Get people to log on to the ME TV website. It seemed to work.

I think they win every year they done this , so rigged and not even listen to us , its like there games rigged

Why rig something as stupid as this quiz/contest?
BobEdmondson sjbang88 3 days ago
To support the launch of MeTV Toons. It is the newest channel in the lineup and the wanted to draw attention to it. Not a bad plan...

lol like they listen to us , so rigged , like people are going to pick this cartoon over a different phrase paleeze

I wonder why "Whatchu talkin' about Willis" (Diff'rent Strokes) didn't make this tournament? For that matter, I'd rank "Did I do that?" (Family Matters) ahead of some of the ones that were in the tournament.
Nevertheless, a worthy winner in Bugs!
sjbang88 dbutler69 4 days ago
I don't think Diff'rent Strokes and Family Matters are on MeTV. Maybe that's why they weren't in the tournament.

In my humble opinion, the best phrase won.🥕🐇🏆☺️

I agree, it's a classic, like something Shakespearean
MrsPhilHarris 5 days ago
I had a hunch “What’s up, doc” would be #1. 🥕
Not much of a hunch... It was destined to win no matter the votting results. It was "rigged" to showcase MeTV Toons!!! Not a bad idea!!!
Really? Hmm…I would have thought some MASH saying would have won if they were pushing something. I mean ME will never take it off nor reduce the hours so something else can air. It seems to win the fav show each year much to my chagrin. Mind you ME does air a lot of cartoons. 🤔
timothys71 MrsPhilHarris 13 hours ago
Nothing against MASH, but I do feel that they're airing too many episodes and keeping a couple of other equally worthy shows out of the lineup.
