Meet Denise Davis: Inside the Collection

Denise’s collection is the final frontier of Star Trek fandom!
Aug. 10, 2025
Denise may be a Star Trek collector, but she’s no typical Trekkie.
Her passion for collecting began after reading collector’s books and realizing she wanted to build a collection of her own. While she didn’t have the toys growing up, she’s more than made up for it as an adult.
Her collection boldly goes where no collection has gone before. She owns around 500 items and even created a book to showcase her pieces. Denise is truly a star in her own right.
Live long and prosper—and take a look at this incredible collection.
1. Star Trek Bronze Statue

This beautiful piece of art is a Star Trek bronze statue representing the Enterprise circling Earth, set on a marble base.
Denise found it in a vintage toy store, where it was originally listed for $200, and included all the paperwork that goes along with it.
According to our expert, this bronze statue would be the centerpiece of any Star Trek collection. It’s the Signature Series from 1999, made in a limited run.
While this item has decreased in value over time, it is still worth about $500. In her heart, it boldly goes where not a lot of collectibles go.
2. Star Trek Lamp

The lights are on in this Star Trek lamp and collectible. Denise’s mother gave it to her as a gift, in support of her out-of-this-world Star Trek collection.
Our expert said it’s a nice piece of merchandise that holds more sentimental value than monetary worth.
It’s from 2016 and features iconic characters, the Starfleet badge, and the Enterprise—one of the most famous spaceships in pop culture history.
This is a special piece because it’s part of a limited edition, and that number is listed on the bottom of the lamp. It was originally worth $200, and today it’s valued at around $300.
But Denise wouldn’t trade it for anything—it came from her mom, who joined her on her journey through space with this amazing collection.
Quick: Who’s your favorite Star Trek character?
3. Lt. Uhura and other Star Trek dolls

Lt. Uhura, played by Nichelle Nichols, is such an iconic part of Star Trek.
She is one of Denise’s favorite characters because she loved seeing a woman of color in such an important role.
Denise was able to meet Nichelle Nichols at a Star Trek convention and even got her autograph. Denise said Nichelle was the kindest and sweetest woman she’d ever met. For Denise, it was a dream come true.
Denise has the accessories, but no box. Our expert couldn’t find this version anywhere. It’s one of the first he’s ever seen.
The expert estimates it’s worth about $600. But no price can match the memories Denise has of meeting one of her ultimate sci-fi icons.
4. Star Trek Clothespins

Denise had never seen anything so silly and Star Trek related—so she had to have them. These clothespins were a fun find, made in 1994.
She hasn’t found much research on them, but they’re adorable—and handy, if needed. Our expert believes they are fan-made, but that doesn’t take away from their charm.
They’re hard to find because they’re so unique, so he valued them at $100 for the whole set.
They may not be official Starfleet issue, but these clothespins still make the cut for her Star Trek collection.
5. Star Trek Dioramas and Shelf

These Star Trek dioramas feature scenes from both the movies and the TV show.
Denise bought them for their beauty and artistry—they’re also small pieces of Star Trek history.
She has about 15 in total. Each diorama is scene-specific, with a mix of rare and more common pieces.
They’re fragile, and while fairly easy to find individually, her collection includes a special Star Trek shelf set that beamed up the overall value.
Altogether, they’re worth about $1,200. Each diorama brings fans back to a specific scene and evokes the emotion of seeing it for the very first time.
6. Star Trek Interspace Communicator

Do you remember having this Star Trek toy?
This is an interspace communicator from 1974. It’s adorable, has never been used, and still comes in its original box—which is always important here at Collector’s Call.
It was another eBay find that Denise bought 20 years ago.
According to our expert, it’s basically the 1970s version of a can on a string.
The box is in great condition, which adds to the value because it managed to live long and prosper.
Today, it would be worth around $200.
