Cowabunga! Geoffrey's love for the heroes in a half shell has grown from a childhood obsession into a shell-shocking collection decades in the making.
What started with a love for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a passion for preserving turtle history. His collection includes the original action figure line and two highly graded copies of the comic book that started it all: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1.
For Geoffrey, the collection is about more than memorabilia. The TMNT franchise represents the brotherhood he connected with as a kid and the memories he’s shared with his own family. This collection is truly a shell of a story. Take a look!
1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 Graded Comic
This is where it all began! Geoffrey owns two first printings of the 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 comic book, the issue that launched the franchise.
With a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old at home, Geoffrey hopes to pass his love for the Ninja Turtles down to his own family.
His collection doesn’t stop there, either. He owns all 62 issues from the first volume of the series.
Both copies are highly graded, which adds to their value. According to our expert, the comic is valued at around $12,000. That’s one shell of a collection!
2. 10-back Ninja Turtles Action Figures
These action figures are where the Ninja Turtles toy craze began!
Geoffrey owns all 10 figures from the original 10-back release, the first issue in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line and the first toys ever available.
The figures quickly became a must-have for kids everywhere. Who didn’t want to bring home their favorite heroes in a half shell?
According to our expert, it’s rare to find figures from the original line in this condition because many were played with and showed years of wear and tear.

3. Ooze Canister from TMNT II: The Secret of the Ooze
Many people might not know what this is, but this little canister contains turtle DNA... sort of.
This is an ooze canister from TMNT II: The Secret of the Ooze, the sequel to the original film. The ooze is what transformed the turtles into the heroes in a half shell, making this one of the most iconic pieces in Geoffrey's collection.
Unlike many replica props, this canister actually contained ooze during filming, making it a must-have item for Geoffrey.
He acquired it from one of the film’s crew members, and the piece has been screen-used and screen-matched to the movie.
The secret recipe for the ooze? Water, glue and glow sticks.
According to our expert, this rare collectible is valued at around $15,000 today. That’s a lot of money for a little bit of turtle DNA.
4. Shredder’s Helmet from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This helmet is one of the most iconic pieces in Geoffrey's collection: Shredder’s helmet from the original 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.
The helmet’s history traces back to the original prop master from the first movie. As the franchise’s main villain, Shredder is one of the most recognizable characters in TMNT history, making this one of the ultimate collectibles for fans.
To Geoffrey’s knowledge, this is the only helmet from the first film that has ever been found. According to our expert, the most important props often come from the heroes and villains, and Geoffrey owns one of the rare villain pieces.
This crown jewel of his collection is valued at around $60,000 today. It's a true piece of turtle history.
5. Leonardo’s Katanas from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
These are Leonardo’s katanas from the original 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, and they were completely screen-used during production. One of the katanas even features green paint from a touch-up made during filming.
Created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the suits and characters from the films helped bring the heroes to life. That makes this piece more than just a TMNT collectible; it’s also a piece of Henson history.
This is an especially rare find because many of the costumes and props from the film have degraded over time or no longer exist. It was also the very first prop Geoffrey ever purchased, and he definitely started his collection with a shell of a statement.

6. Raphael’s Trench Coat and Sai from TMNT
This trench coat is Raphael’s trench coat from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. The size? A massive 5XL because it had to cover his shell and bring the larger-than-life character to the big screen.
The piece also includes the weapons Raphael carried throughout the film. Geoffrey acquired the sai from the stunt performer who handled Raphael’s action scenes, making this collectible a true piece of TMNT movie history.
