Can guess the decade when these baby names were most popular?

Can you remember the most popular name in your school?

Think back to all your schoolmates. If you were in school in the 1960s and 1970s, odds are you were surrounded by a bunch of Marys. You might be a Mary yourself. It was a massively popular name for babies in the 1950s and 1960s… not to mention the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s.

On the boys' side, James dominated for much of the mid-20th century.

But what about other names? We're going to give you a popular baby name. Can you guess when it was most popular, according to the Social Security Administration? To make it easier — kind of — you only have to guess the decade.

  1. In what decade was Jennifer the most popular girls name — every single year?
  2. When was Linda the most popular girls name in America?
  3. In what decade was Tyler a top five name for baby boys?
  4. In what decade was Lisa the most popular name for baby girls?
  5. In what decade was Angela a top five name for baby girls?
  6. In what decade did Jason peak as the second most popular name for baby boys?
  7. What were the only two years in which Donna was a top five name for baby girls?
  8. When did Ava peak in popularity?
  9. In what decade was John the most popular boys name in America?
  10. In what decade did Heather peak in popularity?
  11. In what decade was Ruth a top five name for girls?
  12. Finally, what was the most popular name for boys in every year of the 1970s?

Can guess the decade when these baby names were most popular?

12/12. Names are a passion of mine. When other people ask for a new baby's weight or length, my first question is always what is the name...and why. I believe that names should have a good "why".

I knew several, especially the name Jennifer, since I have several friends by that name as well as my youngest sister, and all of them except one were born in the 70s.

Do you pronounce it "ma-REE-ah" (say it loud and there's music playing) or "ma-RYE-ah" (like they call the wind)? How do you solve a problem like that?
