Do you know all of the words to the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme song?
It'll be stuck in your head for hours after this...
You know it when you hear it, those peppy first chords of the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme song. It's an infectious tune, often heralded as a favorite tune amongst fans.
The original song was written by Sonny Curtis, whose other writing credits include the hits "I Fought the Law" and "More Than I Can Say," which he co-wrote with Jerry Allison. The first season used the first part of the song for its sequence, an indirect reference to how the character will need to learn how to take care of herself now that she was striking out on her own. In seasons two through seven, the second verse of the song is used as the main introduction because it gives a more upbeat impression.
