The U.S. boycotted the 1980 Games in Moscow because of the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan in late-1979. In retaliation, the USSR boycotted the 1984 Los Angeles games. The big losers: the athletes on both sides, and the U.S. farmers who were not allowed to sell their grain with the embargo from Pres. Carter's decision after the USSR invasion!
I missed only 2004, but I won GOLD, 14 out of 15!
1972 was the saddest of them all, with the murder of all 11 Israeli athletes from a terrorist group of--5 of their 8 members were also killed.

Good job! I barely remember the 1972 Olympics, other than Olga Korbut. I didn't really start watching until 1976. When Bruce Jenner won the decathlon. 😆
