Eve Plumb admitted that she and Jan Brady were quite similar
"She fits me like a second skin," said Plumb.
For years, all anyone could talk about on television was Marcia, Marcia Marcia. In this modern age, it's time we start appreciating all of the Brady siblings. That's right: We're proud Jan Brady fans, and we're not ashamed to admit it!
If you're also a member of the Jan Jamboree, you're in good company. Eve Plumb, who played the young Brady in various iterations of the series, told The Pittsburgh Press that she and the character shared more than just a face.
"Jan was a lot like me to begin with," said Plumb. "As a child, I reacted to situations and people in the show just as I would in real life. I had no other kind of reference at that age. I did things naturally just as any little girl would do in a given situation."
Plumb grew up on the series, and she wasn't done with the role once The Brady Bunch had wrapped filming. The actor reprised her role in various Brady reunions, including The Brady Brides, a spinoff series focused on a now-married Jan and Marcia, and their new husbands.
Plumb believed that the similarities between fiction and reality were no accident and only grew as she got older.
"Now, playing Jan at my age and with the experience I've had, I still don't detect any real divergence in the two of us," she said. "I think that's because Sherwood and Lloyd [Schwartz] knew me as a child and they've built the older Jan around my character and personality so she fits me like a second skin."
