Guess which Gilligan's Island actor boldly proclaimed ''I'm one of my fans.''

Hint: It wasn't the Skipper!

Warner Brothers

When asked about watching their work, actors tend to detest the idea. Whether or not it's false modesty, most stars tell reporters that they can't stand to go back and watch what they've done onscreen. It creates the image of an ever-evolving craftsperson, honing skills so rapidly that they can't even relate to the work they've done in the past.

One Gilligan's Island star, however, bucked the trend and apparently loved watching herself in the show.

In 1964, The Duluth News Tribune interviewed Tina Louise, who starred in Gilligan as Hollywood movie star Ginger Grant. She provided some unexpected details about her relationship with the series, even though she wasn't even asked about it!

Earl Wilson, a reporter for the Tribune asked Louise a series of questions that culminated with one about how she spent her Hollywood Saturday nights. Louise had a bewildering response that might've surprised her coworkers. If anything, though, it only reaffirmed the perception of her as not too different from her character.

"I have a date at my apartment every Saturday night to watch my TV show, and to watch me," said Tina Louise.

"I'm one of my fans."

As for other things she was a fan of, Louise also mentioned a recent trip to see "Golden Boy" on Broadway. The production starred Sammy Davis Jr. as a young Harlem prizefighter.

"Wow!" said Louise. "I could just feel the talk."

Naturally, she was a bit more glowing when speaking of her own work.

Gee, the Crypt Keeper was a conceited egomaniac. That's like finding out there's no Santa Claus 🙄🙄🙄🙄

She was born in 1934 which will make her 91 years old on her birthday. Not 90 years old. Please don't short her a year. At that age I think she's earned the extra year.

I KNEW THAT! However, most women don't want to talk about their age! The film she did in 1958 was Tobacco Road!
CORRECTION! The film was God's Little Acre! I knew it was a Southern potboiler!

I figured you'd probably know that but there are people here who don't know. I think most women in their eighties and nineties could care less about who's talking about age. Yet if she still is as vain now as she was in her youth maybe she's not happy if she's reading these posts. I have wondered if these celebrities who are featured here read these comments about them. Who knows?

She turns 90 tomorrow. Considering that fact probably not the greatest time to run such an unflattering article.

Wouldn't be surprised! Fun Fact: Tomorrow is her birthday! I won't say the number, but the fact that she made her film debut in 1958 [my birth year] will give you a clue!
