Jack Webb once said that Adam-12 actor Kent McCord could hold his own beside real police officers
Webb, who created the series, praised the actor.

Jack Webb was widely considered the king of the crime series. At the helm of shows like Dragnet and Emergency! Webb certainly knew his way around an action-packed set.
However, Webb wasn't focused on creating sensationalized stories about law enforcement in a desperate attempt to gain viewers. Instead, Webb vested his energies in creating an honest depiction of what the law enforcement profession looked like in the United States in an effort to tell as honest a story as possible.
This meant that Webb devoted plenty of time to researching law enforcement and ensuring that all those under his employment, whether they be cast or crew, followed his lead.
Martin Milner, one of the stars of the police series Adam-12, explained that he and co-star Kent McCord were instructed to ride along with actual police officers to help prepare for their roles.
"Now I'm no longer detached about it," said Milner during an interview with The Gaffney Ledger. "I've been out in the prowl cars with the patrolmen; I know what they have to go through. I'm strictly on the side of the side of law and order - and I think our new show will help bridge the gap between the ordinary citizens and the law to show what police work really is."
Webb had high praise for Adam-12 actor Kent McCord, arguing that the young actor could hold his own amongst actual law enforcement officers.
"You could put him in any L.A. police department inspection group, and I don't think even the chief would be able to spot him as an actor," said Webb.
