Makeup in film has become an art form. With such an emphasis on computer-generated effects in film today, makeup is never given enough credit during the filming process. With makeup, an actor is allowed a physical transformation, even if that transformation is laborious.

Such a case was the popular 1980s film. Earth Girls Are Easy. The film starred Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans, who play aliens after crash-landing on Earth. In their "alien" form, the three actors are unrecognizable, thanks to the crew's makeup talents.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, film star Jeff Goldblum revealed that the furry costume and extra makeup were less than ideal while filming in the California heat.

"We did it in Los Angeles for the hot months of July and August, and they put more makeup on me for that," said Goldblum. "My tolerance level was sort of at its [peak]. In these hot months, I had these hairy suits, we all had these hairy suits on, and then they would just spend a lot of time spray painting. It was very artistic. A lady did some stripes to make my face look like fur."

Luckily, Goldblum didn't have to suffer through the makeup process for the entire shoot, as his character undergoes a transformation when he arrives on Earth, courtesy of Valerie Gail, played by Geena Davis.

"She disguises us as Earth guys by shaving off our colorful hair," said Goldblum during an interview with The News and Observer. "We blend right in."
