Original Ponch and Jon reunite as 'CHiPs' remake gets an official release date
Ponch and Jon were back in action for one weekend only.
It was a big weekend for CHiPs fans. Not only did the original Ponch and Jon reunite for a fan event in New Jersey, but Warner Bros. also announced the release date for the upcoming CHiPs remake.
Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada teamed up at the Chiller Theatre Toy, Model and Film Expo in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey. While there, the stars met fans, signed memorabilia and reminisced about their time filming the cop drama.
Robert Pine, who played commanding officer Sergeant Joseph Getraer, was also in attendance. The expo boasted other celebrities like Alice Cooper and George Wendt from Cheers.

The reunion comes as the series prepares to hit the big screen. Warner recently announced the action-comedy remake will roll into theaters August 11, 2017.
Comedic actor Dax Shepard, who's best known for starring in the recent TV series Parenthood, will not only write, direct and produce the film, but also star as Jon Baker. Michael Peña, who had a big year at the box office in 2015 with hits like Ant-Man and The Martian, will be on patrol as Frank Poncherello.
Other cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle) and Adam Brody (The O.C.).
Perhaps the recent reunion means the original stars are willing to make cameos in the upcoming film? We sure hope so!
