You can spend the night at the last Blockbuster for only $4
The video store has a replica '90s living room complete with sofa bed and VCR.
Anyone who has mourned the loss of video rental stores over the last fifteen years should take comfort in knowing that there is still one location left. At the Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon, you can relive the days of walking through rows and rows of titles, hoping to find the perfect VHS to take home for the night.
And now, for a limited time, the last Blockbuster location on Earth will be available to rent on Airbnb. That’s right, you can sleepover inside the store — watching as many movies as you want!
The best part? It costs less than five bucks! Store manage Sandi Harding told CNN, "It's only $4 for the night, a penny more than what you would spend for a new release."
Of course, that deal does come with some caveats. The overnight stay will only be available for three separate, one-night bookings September 11th, 19th, and 20th. Intended as a thank you to the local residents for keeping the store in business, only residents of Deschutes County can book a stay.
Lucky renters can pick out any movie off the store's shelves, including – especially – VHS titles, and watch the film on a large 1990s television from a retro pullout couch.
"With everybody being stuck at home and re-experiencing family time together, we thought it would be fun to enjoy some family time in a throwback '90s environment," Harding said.
The Bend, Oregon, Blockbuster is celebrating 20 years in business and instead of bringing movies home — they’re bringing home to the movies!
If you don't happen to live in Deschutes County, you can support the store and show off your retro-pride by purchasing anything from keychains to sweatpants off their website.
