Friday the 12th Deserves a Special Halloween Horror!

Posted on October 12, 2012

Since our blog tomorrow –for October 13th-will mainly be a preview of the movie we have for you Saturday night on Me-TV- it occurred to me that, since today is Friday- and the 12th- it’s close enough for us to proclaim a very fitting “Halloween Horror of the Day’! The honor, of course, falls to Jason Voorhees- the frightening monster of “Friday the 13th” fame! The unmasked Jason’s look was designed for the first film by make-up whiz Tom Savini, and any further unmasked versions of Jason’s face always include features based on that Savini design. Though Jason’s presence as a child is felt in the original film, he really gets rolling in the second film-“Friday the 13th Part 2” –in which it is confirmed that Jason is alive, grown to an adult, and stalking visitors to Camp Crystal Lake! He wears a bag over his head in this film, but, in the next sequel, he claims the hockey goalie mask of a victim and establishes the look that is best known to his fans! Jason, like Michael Meyers, seems to be an unstoppable menace that just can’t die-and went on creating mayhem in sequel after sequel. Though the studio itself tried to end his saga a few times- Jason just wouldn’t die, coming back again and again, and with seemingly more power! He went to Manhattan, went to Hell (some might say those two are one and the same),went into space, and even battled Freddy Krueger! He’s even been rebooted (take that, Spider-Man!) Jason was played in the first film by Ari Lehman, whom we’ve had the pleasure of meeting- and most of his adult versions in the various sequels have been played by stunt men, since it is a physically-challenging role. The most famous of these stunt actors to portray Jason is Kane Hodder, who appears at many of the horror conventions, and to many fans has done the best job of portraying the undying killer. The Jason character is a well-recognized icon in popular culture- and , so, on this Friday the 12th-we go the day one better, and proclaim Jason Voorhees as our “Halloween Horror of the Day”! (Though he could probably come back day after day after day…) I just wanted to share some exciting new information I got- not only will the Svengoolie Chicken SandWITCH be available at Tom and Eddie’s Lombard location (and that location ONLY) tomorrow, where I’ll be appearing- they will have some special Sven souvenir cups available while they last! Don’t forget to dress in your best costume, since there will be prizes for both kids and adults. You can find all the info here on our site under “appearances”- and we have added some- with possibly a few more to come, including some TV and radio guest shots- so make sure you check it occasionally during this Halloween season! Our other appearance this weekend, again, is at Hawthorne Race Course, where the Zombie Apocalypse Haunted House has been set up- I’m there early Sunday night- and we will have a limited number of Sven t-shirts and button sets available for purchase. Again, all the information is right here under the “appearances” tab here on our site. A fan asked me why I never mention that I’m on Twitter- I thought I have in the past, but, if you’re into tweeting, you can follow me- @Svengoolie . I’m not one of those folks who is tweeting something every 5 minutes, though- so don’t worry about me constantly occupying your time!
