Before extreme dating shows like The Bachelor took romance-related game shows to the next level, there was the flirty, innocent fun of The Dating Game. The popular dating show premiered in 1965 and typically ran back-to-back with The Newlywed Game, providing a solidd block of gawking as earnest singles would try to relate and win dates.

Celebrities turned up often on The Dating Game, sometimes as a guest star (like Michael Jackson or Ann B. Davis) and other times, as young unknowns on the cusp of their later fame (like Farrah Fawcett and John Ritter).

Below, we've gone back through some of our favorite celebrity appearances on The Dating Game in the '60s and '70s and recreated the match-ups to see if you can tell who these bachelors and bachelorettes chose in the end.

Think you're the ultimate dating game matchmaker? See if you can guess the right charmer every time. Good luck!
  1. Burt Reynolds appeared on 'The Dating Game' in 1967, as one of the bachelors this woman could choose. She asks him what he'd say if he proposed to her, and he said, "I think it’d be wonderful if we got married and ended this silly affair we’ve been having behind this board.” Did he get the date?
  2. When Vicki Lawrence went on 'The Dating Game' in 1971, she was introduced as someone who "always dreamed of a theatrical career, but never dreamed she'd land a role as Carol Burnett's sister." Which bachelor did she choose?
  3. At a young age, Michael Jackson appeared on 'The Dating Game' in 1972, introduced as a "certain popular young singing star." Which bachelorette did he choose?
  4. Steve Martin went on 'The Dating Game' as one of the bachelors this woman got to choose from. She asks Martin what store he’d like to be trapped in all night long, and he said Goodwill, so he could try on all the old clothes and ladies hats. Does he get the date?
  5. In 1969, Farrah Fawcett was introduced on 'The Dating Game' as a "former beauty title holder." Her first question for the bachelors was "What is your favorite smell: morning, noon or night." Here are their answers; who do you think she chooses?
  6. When Arnold Schwarzenegger went on 'The Dating Game' in 1973, he was introduced as "the current Mr. Olympia." Which bachelorette does he choose?
  7. Shortly after Ann B. Davis became known as Alice on 'The Brady Bunch,' the actress went on 'The Dating Game.' Which bachelor does she choose?
  8. Finally, John Ritter went on 'The Dating Game' as "a college student majoring in drama" and one of the bachelors this bachelorette could choose. She asks him what their dream wedding would be. His answer: "We would drain out Lake Michigan and have butterscotch ripples drop from airplanes on our heads." Does he get the date?
