8 of 10. One of my mother's favorite stories to tell about a two year old Fred Clampett is how he chucked a Matchbox car at the TV screen the second that the Gorn appeared.

"you mean to destroy the alien vessel Captain?

What kind of question is that Spock, you think Kirk just wants to see if the Enterprise is faster.

9/10. Shoulda aced this one. A great episode. The Gorns, as ugly as they are, have the same technology and intelligence as humans. I wonder if Spock has the capability to lock on the gorn's sensor and create an overload.

There's actually some strange things about this episode. If they were beaming down to have dinner, why did they bring phasers and tricorders? If those were Kirk's 'tactical' officers, why did they get killed so fast? Most illogical.

8/10, great episode, and we're a promising species. Big Bang Theory spoofed this episode once.

8/10. The outdoors location filming enhanced the look for this terrific episode. The Cestus III colony fort, and the Vasquez Rocks scenery were terrific looking. Ted Cassidy ("The Corbomite Maneuver," & "What Are Little Girls Made Of?") provided the voice of the Gorn. Vic Perrin ("The Changeling," & "Mirror, Mirror") was the voice of the Metron.

Kirk should have just rubbed the Gorn's belly and put him to sleep.
