Trivia. William Shatner was ill with the flu during the filming of this episode.
Shatner clashed with the director when the director wanted Kirk to exit during a scene where there was an established wall.
It was during the filming of this episode that the cast and crew received word that NBC had cancelled Star Trek.
The final scene ever filmed for the original series was that of Kirk & Dr. Lester in front of the alien transference machine.
