Yep, he was indeed!

100% similar.
There's nothing freaky about any of those movies. Well, at least the ones I know. I picked "meh" for 8-10 but I have never heard of those movies.
Tresix 2 months ago
80% similar. Answered mostly “Meh”. Never heard of the final one.

100% - Meh on all of them. I admit, I don't remember the last 3 movies, but I might if I saw them again. There was a movie called "The Manitou" that totally freaked me out. Jaws freaked me out too, but I was only 6 when I saw it for the first time.

“Manitou” is a guilty pleasure of mine. Especially the final battle.

I only watched it once as a kid and it freaked me out so much I never watched it again. I'm sure if I watched it now it would be a different experience and probably seem pretty cheesy.
Yes! I was in 8th grade and it totally freaked me out 😱

I haven’t heard of many of these films but then I was a teen in the ‘70’s so probably couldn’t have cared less. I’m sure some of them may have frightened my younger siblings.
I do remember a film from the ‘50’s that gave me nightmares; The Bad Seed with Patricia McCormick. Yipe!! She played a child sociopath who murders people. Saw it on tv, some afternoon movie replay. Never will watch it again!!

Patty went on to play one of the neighbors on “The Ropers”.

Yep, and her husband went on to be Hank Kingsley! "HEY NOW!"

I never even heard of "The Other" or "Watcher in the Woods", but I honestly don't think any of these movies were ever meant to be scary.

They are entertainment, you don't need to be frightened to enjoy a movie.

"What is this a freak out!" Violet was right!
I always fast forward the creepy portion of the boat ride.
cperrynaples deltadart 2 months ago
Actually,I think that was her father who said that! "My daughter is a blueberry!" Fun Fact: In the unlikely event Svengoolie shows Willy Wonka, he'll point out that this actor appeared on...PERRY MASON!!!

Violet says, "What is this, a freak-out?" during the boat ride. Her father says, "You're violet, Violet!" after she starts turning blue later.(I watched that movie many, many time with my daughter. It was our favorite movie to watch together)
cperrynaples Zip 2 months ago
Got that wrong! But her father did say his daughter was a blueberry and yes he was on...PERRY MASON!

I haven't seen most of these, But Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory freaked me out as a kid. I'm sure it was my age. I was probably around 7 or 8 when I first saw it. The whole movie sucked me into that fantasy world and the oompa loompas were scary. But what really freaked me out was that boat ride!! Things of nightmares for a youngin 😄

The only kids movie I would consider somewhat freaky came from the 80s, not the 70s:
The Neverending Story, particularly the scene where Atreyu loses Artax in the swamp of sadness. Also, when the Rockbiter is depressed because he lost his friends and basically sits down and waits to die

I haven't seen most of these. Nothing freaked me out from those I had seen, although the tunnel scene in Willy Wonka was very strange. Didn't a snake slither over somebody's face at one point? 😜🐍

Scary is one thing. Blood, guts and gore is another. I would prefer being scared to an upset stomach. 😲 is better than 🤢

Watch, enjoy then forget the bad stuff. It's like a good trip for the moment then it's over an onward. One small step for KJ one giant leap for your psyche 😏.

I didn't see most of those movies but the movie that I did see that freaked me out the most was The Other. I think it was shown on The CBS Friday Night Movie back in the 1970s. SPOLIER ALERT: If you haven't seen this movie, please stop reading this now. Near the end of the movie when they go looking for the baby who went missing during the night, they finally found the baby drowned in a wine cask and Uncle George (Lou Frizzell) says "Oh my God! Oh my God!" This movie was based on the novel written by Thomas Tryon. He's the actor that appeared in the 1950s sci-fi/horror movie I Married a Monster from Outer Space.

Was not freaked out by the ones I saw. I guess I got freaked out in the 80's.
