The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a hallmark of Thanksgiving tradition. Starting in 1924, the parade is presented by the department store every year. The biggest event in the day is the grand finale — the arrival of Santa Claus on his sleigh!
The second most anticipated spectacle is, of course, the balloons, each one as large as a building, harnessed to dozens of volunteers. Everyone has a floating friend or two that they look for each year, and every year audiences anticipate which new additions are added to the lineup.
Many cartoon and novelty characters have come and gone over the years: Fred Flinstone, Betty Boop and Yogi Bear are just a few of the many animated celebrities to come and go.
We're putting your holiday memory to the test. See if you can recall if these popular cartoon characters had a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade during the Sixties. Good luck!
