16/20 I did about as best as I possibly could including a few lucky guesses. However, as per #6 "The Supremes A' Go-Go" wasn't released until the summer of 1966 and the question listed the year as 1965 so naturally I didn't pick that one. I thus boost my score to 16/19 with one question being disqualified.
17 out of 20...as for the Diane/Diana thing, the story I heard was that Berry Gordy changed her name from Diane to Diana as the latter had a more classy ring to it.
Diana Ross was pregnant with Barry Gordy's baby when she married her husband. She lied to everyone, however everyone at Motown knew she was having an affair with the boss.
Which was exactly how she got to be the lead singer, screwing over the more talented Flo and Mary. Mary hung in there for years, keeping the group alive well after Diana bailed. Flo was fired from the group (before a performance, no less!) and replaced by Cindy Birdsong, who had just sang earlier that evening with her previous group, Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles.
Over a year later, Flo managed to get a solo contract with ABC, with two former Motown staffers as her producers. Only two singles were released, both went nowhere, and a proposed album was shelved for many years (it finally saw a release in the UK under the title The Supreme Florence Ballard, with the addition of a couple of Supremes tracks on which she took the lead). Her life, career and marriage spiraled out of control from that point, and she died tragically in 1976, only 32 years old.
