Ann B. Davis said that the children on The Brady Bunch were ''the backbone of the show''
Davis adored her costars on The Brady Bunch.
While we all love Mike and Carol Brady, it's obvious that the true stars of The Brady Bunch are the children. With much of the fanbase of the series having grown up with The Brady kids, they almost acted as friends to viewers. Fans could see themselves in pieces of Greg, Peter, and (if you were lucky) Marcia.
Even the adults in the series understood how important the roles of the Brady children were.
"The kids are the backbone of the show," said Davis during an interview with the Sun-Telegram. "These kids are great."
Davis is best known for playing Alice, who we'd like to consider to be an official member of the Brady family.
But while audiences loved watching The Brady Kids' misadventures in adolescence, Davis maintained that the actors themselves were incredibly mature actors.
"Right from the start they behaved like adults," said Davis. "The oldest girls are now the closest friends. You know, they read 400 kids for these six roles."
Davis wasn't worried about sharing the spotlight, just as long as she was having fun on the job. "With a cast of nine, it's not easy to get featured very often," she said. "But I was featured a couple of times last season and there's a script coming up that features me... They always give me some fun things to do and I don't mean popping in to say 'The carriage is without.' That's all any actor can ask for."
