14 photos of Leonard Nimoy at work and home that will make a Vulcan smile

See Spock in a whole new light.

It's hard to believe that it's been more than four years since we lost Leonard Nimoy. Thankfully, he will remain forever with us as Mr. Spock on Star Trek. He also left behind some charming behind-the-scenes photographs that give us a better look at his leisurely side. Spock was not exactly known for his smiles, so it's fun to see the actor, sporting his iconic look, at play.

Let's take a look.

Mr. Rock

Nimoy strums an acoustic guitar, perhaps composing songs about Hobbits.

In the Machine Room

A science officer can get his hands dirty with machinery, too. We love spotting the vintage household products in the shop, like Snarol slug killer and Dri-Zit, "The Miracle Absorbent."

He Sleighs

So that's what he was making Rosebud?

Sofa, So Good

In case you were wondering, Spock's hair was no wig. Nimoy had to rock the bowl cut in everyday life, too, while in production. We love his living room art.

Dictaphone Home

See, we didn't need cellphones to record our vocal notes. What did Nimoy have on his bookshelves? A tome by famous lawyer Clarence Darrow, Saul Bellow's The Adventures of Augie March, the 1957 novel Voss by Patrick White, and the World Book encyclopedia set, to name a few.

Fan Service

Nimoy answered his own fan mail, which was no simple task, as you can tell by the shoulder-high stack of portraits awaiting his autograph.

Family Help

Well, at least Leonard had some helping hands with his wife, Sandi, and his kids, Adam and Julie, by his side.

The Nimoy family hits the town to take in the premiere of Disney's The Jungle Book in 1967.

The Future's So Bright…

Nimoy shows off his sweet ride, a 1963 Buick Riviera. His PDL-257 license plate turned up on eBay not too long ago.

Back at home, Nimoy hangs up more decorative artwork.

Leonard using the table saw is a bit cringeworthy. I would guess the lack of a guard or spliting knife may have been par for the course in that era. Feeding the blade the wrong way is just bad as it can grab the piece away and launch it.

Those plates weren’t the actual plates from Leonard Nemoy’s Buick Riviera, they were replicas, for which they were clearly stated as such in the listing title.

Gosh....did he HAVE to leave his bangs like that? Or did he do it to ensure people would know who he was in public?

Hey MeTV, these stories are great. But how bout posting pictures that can be sized. Sometimes I want to blow up an image to see it better and can't do it.

His father was a barber and many men and boys walked into his shop asking for that Vulcan haircut never really knowing that they were talking to Leonard Nimoy's father.

Was it only yesterday that we saw Spock flip open his communicator and say, "That's not logical." Now flip phones are almost museum pieces.
