Can you help Hollywood track down a prop lost 40 years ago?
The prop has been lost to time, and must be recovered or there may be a paradox!

The stars of the highest-grossing film of 1985, Back to the Future, have reunited to ask the movie-loving public for help tracking down a long-lost prop from a pivotal scene.
It's the big climax of the movie. Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), at risk of fading from existence, needs his parents to kiss at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. But when the guitar player hurts his hand, Marty has to pick up the guitar and play it himself to keep the dance moving — and to keep himself in the timeline. Later, once his parents have fallen in love once more, he shreds out a version of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode".
That guitar he shreds on is a cherry red Gibson ES-345 guitar. And since the film wrapped, it's been missing.
The creators tried to find it for the 1989 sequel, but had no success. Now, the film's stars, creators, and Gibson itself has turned to the public to ask for help.
On June 3rd, 2025, Gibson uploaded a video on their channel. In it, Michael J. Fox (Marty), Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown), Lea Thompson (Lorraine McFly), Harry Waters Jr. (Marvin Berry), and Bob Gale (Back to the Future co-creator) plead for any tips or leads that will facilitate the return of the guitar. Even Huey Lewis, of Huey Lewis and the News, comes by to support the effort (and to tell Fox that he's being "too darn loud.")
“It’s somewhere lost in the space-time continuum,” says Fox.
Gibson has set up a website, Lost To The Future, as well as a tip line if anyone has any information on the missing guitar.
After all, memorabilia is very special to people... just ask any of the collectors featured on Collector's Call, Sunday nights on MeTV at 6:30P | 5:30C. Collectors like Jennifer Klein, pictured here sitting inside her custom Back to the Future DeLorean with series host Lisa Whelchel. If any collectors or eagle-eyed fans spy the vanished guitar, movie history can be restored!
