David Doyle hit back against Charlie's Angels critics
"I don't find anything wrong with my show," said the actor.
Though Charlie's Angels enjoyed a hefty five-season run, the series was not without interference and issues. With three beautiful women at the forefront, Charlie's Angels was frequently dismissed as shallow or superficial entertainment. Nicknamed "jiggle television," many moral groups took issue with the series, claiming sex appeal was at the center of the series.
One of the show's stars, David Doyle, hit back against critics of the series. The actor claimed that much of the uproar against the series was simply for show. "When you start dealing with morals, that's a very personal thing," said Doyle during an interview with the Public Opinion. "In the public eye, you'll see people giving into pressure who actually wouldn't object to what they see on TV."
From his own perspective, Doyle believed that Charlie's Angels had every right to remain a staple on television. "I don't find anything wrong with my show," said the actor. "I never had the slightest qualm about Charlie's Angels. I never considered it to be naughty."
Certain groups didn't just disagree; they attempted to put an end to the series, calling out for network ABC to cancel the series.
"I don't think they will force Charlie's Angels off the air...It's up to the individual viewer to decide what's right for him to watch...It's like saying that just because one person can't drink two martinis without it going to his head, that everybody else is affected the same way."
