Eve Plumb said that this was the hardest part of returning to play Jan Brady
"It takes a while to perfect the timing," she said.
Fans of The Brady Bunch find the show to be a constant comfort, in good times and bad. Sure, there are elements of the show that feel a bit outdated, and even unrealistic at times. But sometimes, that's exactly why viewers enjoy the series in the first place. The Brady Bunch provides a form of escapism, where viewers know that despite the problems, things will eventually be all right in the end.
Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady in the popular series, held pride in the show's success. During an interview with the Pittsburgh Press, Plumb also acknowledged that the popularity of the series had a lasting impact on society, even today.
"It's never been off the tube in Los Angeles," said Plumb. "In most places, it runs five days a week."
Logically, it made sense that viewers would express an interest in seeing the Brady siblings again. Still, Plumb admitted she was a bit shocked and apprehensive when she was approached to return to the role of Jan Brady in the new series, The Brady Brides.
"Naturally, I was surprised when they approached me to play Jan again," she said. "I debated with myself whether I should or shouldn't. But it was such a contemporary idea that I decided to go ahead."
While Plumb was already familiar with the role, it had been quite some time since she had taken on a more comedic approach to acting, instead using her career to focus on more serious roles.
"The only thing that took some adjustment on my part was loosening up for comedy after playing so much drama since The Brady Bunch," she said. "It takes a while to perfect the timing."
Luckily, Plumb got eased back into the genre in no time, and viewers were blessed with the Brady sisters once more.
