Farrah Fawcett didn't believe she was a great actor

The Charlie's Angels actor believed she had a long way to go as a performer.

Often considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, Farrah Fawcett was so much more than just a pretty face.

Fawcett was also an incredibly gifted performer in both film and television. Known for movies like The Burning Bed (1984) and Small Sacrifices (1989), Fawcett’s television breakthrough came in 1976 when she was cast as Jill Munroe in the popular series, Charlie’s Angels. Fawcett’s portrayal became famous, and though she left the series after the first season, the actor returned for frequent guest appearances to reprise her role.

Publicly, Fawcett was one of the most in-demand actors of her time. Privately, however, she didn’t necessarily view herself as a hot commodity. “I don’t delude myself about my acting talent,” Fawcett said during an interview with the Daily News. “I know I’m not great. I wasn’t blessed with that kind of ability, but I think I’m getting better. I think there’s hope for me as an actress. You see, I’m basically a shy person.”

Fawcett’s publicist, David Mirisch, believed that the actor’s good looks gave her a foot in the door of Hollywood.

“Unless a girl has strong professional talent and training,” said Mirisch, “you just take the beauty and run with it. You get her pictures into the papers as much as possible, and you figure someone will see it and come up with a movie or television offer...”

Fawcett’s beauty earned her more than a few roles. However, her talent was able to cement her status as a true Hollywood icon.
