Though the life of a Hollywood star is assumed to be luxurious, it is not without its trials. Issues like long working hours and lack of privacy are prevalent in the life of an actor.

Luckily, Jack Lord had a wonderful support system in his wife, Marie De Narde, whom he married in 1949.

“She is my rock, the great stability in my life,” the Hawaii Five-O star said of his wife during an interview with Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I long to go home at night. She understands the business. She understands me. And she has the patience of a saint.”

De Narde had a great deal of admiration for her husband as well. “Jack is such a dedicated person, going into each year of the series like it was his last,” said De Narde. “Everything about the show has to be the best. And if somebody slacks off, Jack feels he must step in. And he does.”

Furthermore, though they had been married for many years, the couple took special measures to emphasize and solidify their love for each other.

“He appreciates what I have to offer: simple dedication and love,” said De Narde. “He thinks I’m terrific. When I come into the kitchen in the morning to start the day, why, he will have left a beautiful love note there on the counter. He is not really a man of words, and I just don’t know how he thinks of such phrases. We have an ongoing romance that actually seems to get better.”
