The stars of The Brady Bunch described what it was like to return to their on-screen home for the first time
One actor described the experience as "powerful."

Sometimes a certain location can hold memories that can send you back in time. When the cast of The Brady Bunch returned to renovate their fictional home, they were gifted a time machine that sent them straight back to the 1970s. In 2018, various members of The Brady Bunch cast participated in a special on HGTV. The actors gathered together at the house formerly used for exterior shots of the Brady house during the filming of The Brady Bunch and worked to renovate the inside to match that of their former fictional home.
"We wanted to make the largest offer we could because we didn't want the developer turning it into a McMansion," said Loren Ruch, the senior VP of Production and Development on HGTV, who helped bring the special to life. However, the purchase was made with little to no actual plan. "We bought it more or less sight unseen," said Ruch. "We didn't know what we were getting into. We didn't have the Brady cast attached. We did not know if we'd be able to replicate the inside, but we had to take a leap of faith in something that felt important to us. Through a series of happy accidents, a lot of luck, and great relationships, everything aligned perfectly."
According to Maureen McCormick, the experience wasn't just a reunion among co-stars but a trip down memory lane.
"It brought me back (to) seeing Florence and Bob and Annie," said McCormick during an interview with the Abilene Reporter-News. "Seeing our crew and feeling the love for all the people who were part of the show."
"Coming into the living room felt powerful," said Barry Williams, McCormick's co-star and fellow renovator. The child stars hadn't been back to their fictional home in years, yet it still felt familiar to them. Susan Olsen, better known as Cindy Brady, described the homecoming as "like a dream, in a way."
