Jim Fowler was once chased by 200 elephants
An elephant never forgets, but apparently, they also don't forgive.

Though science is often knocked as one of the more “boring” school subjects, Jim Fowler was no dull man of science. Fowler was a zoologist and is best known as one of the hosts of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. During an interview with Newsday, Fowler revealed that to become a zoologist, one had to keep one's wits about them.
“One important thing is you have to be willing to live an unpredictable life,” said Fowler during an interview with Newsday. “You don’t know what will happen.”
For example, Fowler revealed one moment he earned the fury of a mother elephant when he was working out in the field.
“You should never get a mother with a calf angry at you,” said Fowler. “Three other people and I were chased by 200 elephants because the matriarch had mistakenly thought we had messed around with her calf. She led the other elephants to chase after us. We were able to escape because we jumped into a Land Rover and took off.”
Fowler’s love for excitement and adventure began at an early age.
“I think one of the reasons I became interested in working in the outdoors is that I grew up in Georgia,” said the zoologist. “My father used to take me and my brother through the wetlands, swamps, and forests and point out everything to us. I grew up with a sense of adventure for the outdoors.”
