The Monkees share ''heartbroken'' goodbyes to ''brother'' Peter Tork

This Sunday, February 24, at 5PM | 4C, MeTV remembers Peter Tork with two episodes of The Monkees.

The surviving members of the Monkees plan to play out the rest of the events they have scheduled as a duo, Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith, following the passing of Peter Tork on February 21. Both Dolenz and Nesmith took to social media to remember Tork and reminisce on the special friendship the Monkees shared over the past five decades.

Dolenz said he was speechless, "There are no words right now ... heartbroken over the loss of my Monkee brother, Peter Tork."

Nesmith hit the same notes in a longer post on Facebook. He wrote that he was in tears as he recalled, "PT will be a part of me forever. I have said this before – and now it seems even more apt – the reason we called it a band is because it was where we all went to play." He then went on to call The Monkees TV show the band's "secret playground." Read the full post below:

Maureen McCormick, the actress who played Marcia Brady on The Brady Bunch, had a special connection to the Monkees after an episode with Davy Jones on her show. She also shared a special goodbye on Twitter, "Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the sweet Peter Tork? Such a fan of Peter’s music and the Monkees."

R-I-P Mr Tork.......... I was born in 76. Became a Monkee fan when Mtv started playing the show and loved when "that was then... this is now" came out. My older sister and i were huge fans...peter was her fave and crush..but we were bummed cuz we knew they had broken up and we wouldnt get to see them live. Long story short......during the summer my dad suprised us with tickets to see hermans hermits...gary puckett and the union gap...and finally monkees. They were doing a reunion tour minus mike.

I just watched the episodes of Boy Meets World where he, Davey and Mickey not only guest starred, but sang... Peter will be missed... feeling sad for actress Danielle Fishel as she played Peter's daughter on Boy Meets World

I always admired his fringed Indian scout boots, which he wore in several episodes.

Half of the Beatles and now half of the Monkees.
Here is how I look at it, and I don't know why I did, I have no idea how I came to think of this in this way.
The youngest Monkee is gone, the second oldest Beatle is gone. The oldest Monkee is gone, and the youngest Beatle is gone Which just leaves: The oldest Beatle, the second oldest Monkee, the third oldest Beatle, and the third oldest Monkee.
Which begs the question: what about a supergroup of Paul, Ringo, Mike and Micky? yeah, you'd have 2 drummers, but they could always trade off songs!
Just saw your response; I don't know about RIngo, but I do know Micky can play guitar, so Micky on guitar RIngo on drums?
