Do you know your cartoon canines?

In the world of cartoons, a guard dog with a spiked collar is just as common as a mouse-chasing cat. Usually, he's a bad-tempered bulldog.
Naturally, Tom and Jerry used the dog-and-cat-and-mouse game setup a lot. The protective pooches had different names but always fulfilled variations on the same role. Looney Tunes also got in on the act, usually pitting a bulldog against Sylvester the cat.
We've taken similar dogs from both Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry shorts. Can you guess which cartoon category each dog belongs to?
