Can you guess what decade these 4th of July ads are from?

Patriotic soda, ice cream and, of course, Frankie Doodle Dandy.

Brands have never shied away from cashing in on America’s birthday. It makes sense to advertise food, drinks and fireworks every summer, but all kinds of companies put out 4th of July ads in years past. We remember one particular summer, right about the middle of one specific decade, where everything was red, white and blue!

Here are 4th of July ads from the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Can you place each one in the right decade?

  1. Nothing like beers, bowties and fireworks. What decade is this from?
  2. There was one year where almost everything was themed for the 4th, including chainsaws. What decade was that?

6/12....I will have to use my 'default' of being a child of the 60's,so my mind wasn't fully developed yet to identify the products of the 50's and 60's!...lol!

MrsPhilHarris and LoveMETV22 just hit the eight ball in the side pocket for the win. Now we get to see Eddie Felton and Minnesota Fats hit the pool table. Thanks MPH and LoveMeTV22

Paul Newman is The Hustler. Shoots a mean game of pool. To be the best he has to beat the best. That would be Minnesota Fats. Fast Eddy has more troubles then just playing some pool. He drinks, women and an agent to back him. All this leads to ups and downs.

The Hustler (1961) 2h 14min
Paul Newman
George C. Scott
Jackie Gleason

Movie Quiz July 9th 2021

There is a thing about being the best in the world on what you do. It comes with responsibility and sacrifice. Though heaven help them that gets on your train to the top. Because there trials and tribulations on the way there and those that get left behind. This is just that movie. One minute you are the greatest and the next you hit that lonely abyss near the bottom. You have to take a lickn' and keep on a tickn'. This movie one of the best of many by these actors. This movie will be like a stock that almost peaks, hits rock bottom and back to the top and comes crashing down because of greed and fame. Movie won 2 Oscars. The characters are FE and MF. You want a rating, okay. How bout 8.0.

We open our entertainment up with- Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets - Stereo - Damn Yankees 1958 - Gwen Verdon, Tab Hunter. This part is so funny with Lola doing her wicked dance. So good like a cartoon character and animated. Damn Yankees! Watch it!

To tell you the truth I thought Moody mentioned either Edie or Kovacks a few weeks ago. I had it on my IA favorites (along with 300 items) as something for conversation on a later date. I decided today to just let our group see it. Then I had to look them up and I had totally forgot he died in a car accident in 1962 when I was just a kid. I knew she was famous and today when I looked her up she was in so many TV shows during the 50's-80's. Also she was the secretary for Fred MacMurray in The Apartment-remember when he fired her for loose mouth? Also It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad and so forth World. Probably 100+ TV shows under self. Kovacks had like half dozen shows she was on also. His pale bearers were like top 20 names of Hollywood and more. Sinatra, Kirk Douglas and the list goes on. Sort of a random choice on my part.

Yes we watched the match. It was very exciting to Italia win. We are both very proud of them!

Yes he had a lot of Hollywood friends. Jack Lemmon went to the morgue to I.d. the body because Edie Adams was a mess. Poor thing had to work her buns off to pay off his debt. Loved her in It’s A Mad,Mad, Mad, Mad World.

I think I remember seeing that Reynolds Wrap ad in an issue of "Woman's Day" my mother had.

9/12. Quizzes like this are challenging because the early half of the 1960s were an extension of the 1950s culturally and visuals used in the late-1960s continued into the early-1970s.

10 out of 12 right. The message I got was "To put on my olive hat and go rest on a bed of lettuce 🥬". What the heck does that mean, MeTV😆🤣😂! This was a very fun quiz! I was rolling when I saw the ad for Pabst Blue Ribbon😂🤣😆! That's my favorite beer😆😂!

12/12...Wow! That was easier than I expected 🤗
If you are wondering where is my movie or TV Show of the week it is here now. We look into The Classic TV Game Shows this week. A tv game show called Take A Good Look. Hosted by Ernie Kovacks 1959. The panel of the following Edie Adams, Hans Conried, Cesar Romero, game show, panel game, comedy, Take a Good Look. Edie Adams is married to Ernie. Cesar Romero was in many a movie and also played The Joker in the Batman series. Hans Conried Played in many a TV shows/series. Also Peter Pan, Hollywood is Grinch Night with a whole slew of others. This game show has a lot of nonsense but funny never the less. if there is something you wish to add please do so. It's my first time watching it.

Take A Good Look (1959-1961) Ernie Kovacks 28 min 54 sec

In Q. #6 BBQ Frankie is not on a hamburger bun, he’s on a toasted English muffin.

11/12. The only one I got wrong was #3. It looked like the 70s to me.
AllisonWunderland Moody 33 months ago
That one almost got me too. I had to look closely at the hair-do's, they fit the 60's 😉
