Can you name the bestselling records of the 1980s from the album artwork alone?

This thriller of a quiz is bound to start a hysteria.

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but in the record biz, Diamond is a musician's greatest achievement. To receive Diamond status from the Recording Industry Association of America, an album has to sell more than 10 million copies. Yep, a Diamond is worth 10x Platinum, at least according to the RIAA.

All of the albums below reached Diamond sales figures in the 1980s. They've continued to sell by the boatload over the decades. The way the industry is now, it's safe to say nobody will reach these figures again.

So, they were all incredibly popular records. Think you can recognize them all? Good luck!
  1. This band's fifth album has sold more than 25 million copies.
  2. He may have been lounging on the cover, but he got everyone dancing in 1982. It sold 33 million copies.
  3. This all-American icon has moved more than 30 millions units of this classic.
  4. Madonna became a pop idol thanks to this 1984 masterpiece. What was the name of the album?
  5. Selling 18 million copies of this record was nothing to sniff at. Who released it?
  6. This rock band must have thanked its guardian angel when it sold more than 10 million copies of this album.
  7. Phil Collins had everyone singing "S-S-Sussudio" thanks to this 25-million-plus-selling record. What was it called?
  8. Who's riding the motorcycle on this album? It sold 13 million in the Eighties and has since reached 25 million.
  9. This band has sold more than 30 million copies of this record — the bestselling debut album of all time.
  10. This record was the bestselling album in the U.K. in the 1980s. It has sold about 10 million here, too. What is the band?
  11. The debut was certified Diamond for selling upwards of 13 million in the U.S. Who released it?
  12. This rock act went 12x platinum with the album pictured here.
  13. This arena rock giant has sold more than 25 million copies of this album, which spawned seven hit singles.
  14. Going solo was a smart move for this man, who sold more than 20 million copies of this sophomore album.

Can you name the bestselling records of the 1980s from the album artwork alone?

14/14. Of course, when most of these came out, I was working in the sight & sound - aka record - department of Bradlees...so I was pretty intimate with them.
