One of my very favorite episodes, but I can't quite put my finger on why it's so special.
Perhaps because it was one of the first episodes to illustrate Mayberry's redemptive
qualities, from Jim Lindsey to Ben Weaver to the businessman in "Man in a Hurry".
Which is one of the reasons we like visiting there.

ever notice that with "the guitar player" you never really see who is playing the guitar? You see the face or the fingers but not both ..hmmm . Maybe it was Andy? (HAHAHAHHA!)
That person was Barney Kessel, who was already quite the jazz legend. Also, the guitar that James Best uses was made by Kay. Not quite "professional grade", but a little better than some of the "dime store" instruments being used at the time.
