Cover versions of songs have the ability to transcend genres and generations. Whether a musician wants to pay homage to an artist they admire, or someone wants to go wild by doing a completely different rendition of a classic, we're all about it.
Many musicians cover tracks during their live shows or even throw them on an album. Sometimes, though, those covers really take off and people forget who actually performed the original version.
We've put together a quiz that tackles some of the most popular cover tracks from the 1960s until now, as well as a few lesser-known ones from genres all over the map... how much ground can you cover? Find out now!

11/15! Didn't know some of the later covers! A few notes: [1] On 8. I'm sure more than a few millennials will confuse "It Ain't Me, Babe" with "I Got You, Babe" [Thank goodness Dylan DIDN'T record the latter...LOL!]. [2] Madonna did record "Diamonds" but all us oldsters know that song is associated with Marilyn Monroe. Some of us even know Carol Channing sang it first! [3] Weezer recorded "Africa" in order to make a young fan happy. Even Ringo wanted this to happen!
PS Did my research and Madonna has NEVER recorded "Diamonds", she only dressed up as Marilyn for "Material Girl"! This is what happens when you let the kids write the quizzes!
PSS Well, they changed "Diamonds" to "Vogue", so they DO read my posts. Personally, I think Britney doing "Vogue" would not be a bad idea, but they would have to change the shout-outs in the middle!
It Ain't Me Babe I believe was also recorded by THE TURTLES {they recorded it first. Oops!} "Diamonds" I think you are getting mixed up with "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend", which is associated w/Carol channing and Marilyn Monroe.
Obviously, you did not see the original post, because if you had you would have known I was referring to the song from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and not the Rihanna/Sia song! I may not be hip to current music, but I do know the difference between "...A Girl's Best Friend" and "...In The Sky"!
I did see your original post, and I just googled to make sure, that Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend, is from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Diamonds In the sky is the Rianna song. I too, did my research. Could someone please back me up on this, I know I am correct, I have also just gotten through listening Carol Channing sing it, over on You Tube. Speaking of diamonds, what's next cperrynaples, are you going to say that Iron Butterfly did a cover of the Beatles Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds?!?!
Don't get hysterical, the fact was that METV said Madonna recorded DAAGBF, and she didn't! She has sung it in concert and she did dress up for "Material Girl", those are confirmed! Butterfly's cover of LITSWD is fake news, but William Shatner and Elton John DID record that song [thankfully not as a duet...LOL!!].
