What classic TV show is Alan Hale Jr. in?

The actor appeared in plenty of shows not named Gilligan's Island.

Forever associated with the nickname Skipper, Alan Hale Jr. certainly left his mark on classic televsion with one show alone.

Despite Gilligan's Island lasting for just three seasons, Alan Hale Jr. became a household name for the era. His classic facial expressions when lashing out at Gilligan certianly left a memorable image to many of his fans.

Though he'll always be the Skipper first, Hale Jr. did much more than plot to escape the island with the castaways. A number of different roles across classic TV, especially Westerns, helped shape Hale Jr.'s career before and after Gilligan's Island.

Can you guess the show he's featured in below?

If it were possible I would have liked to see him and his pop appear together in something.

''You got 8 out of 13'' ---Did you recognize Alan Hale, Jr. outside of Gilligan's Island, or do you only know him as The Skipper? ----I got 1, 2, 7, 12, and 13 wrong.

Where's the Love Boat episode where he played a retired boxer who set up a shipboard match with an old rival? Nancy Kulp was in it too, but I can't remember whether she was his,or his opponent's, wife.

No "Casey Jones" (c. 1959), with Alan Hale Jr. in the starring role? That was my first familiarity with him, even though I was just a little kid (but crazy about trains).

Just like Sheldon Cooper, of The Big Bang Theory, and Young Sheldon! He's crazy over trains also.

I know he had done a lot away from Gilligan. He was also in the running to be Hoss on Bonanza.

9/13! And 3 bonus questions: [1] What MeTV star was considered for the Skipper? [2] According to the pilot, what was the Skipper's real name? [3] On which series did he reunite with Bob Denver? Was it [a] The Good Guys [b] Dusty's Trail or [c] Far Out Space Nuts? And clearly they ran this quiz because 5 was on last night!
CoreyC cperrynaples 28 months ago
1. Carroll O'Connor.
2. Jonas Grumby
Don't know 3.
Here's a bonus question for you: Who was up for the role as Gilligan?
cperrynaples CoreyC 28 months ago
Jerry Van Dyke, who later did My Mother The Car! And the answer to 3 was The Good Guys! Dusty's Trail was Forrest Tucker [F Troop] and FOSN was Chuck McCann!
JHP cperrynaples 28 months ago
my 3 cents - Jerry Van Dyke - his characters were so so lame - even on the MTM show

cant stand watching him
Sawfingers JHP 28 months ago
I think that too, but he was better in coach
