R.I.P. Miguel Ferrer, son of José Ferrer and star of 'NCIS: Los Angeles'

Rosemary Clooney's eldest son also appeared in 'Twin Peaks' and 'RoboCop.'

Acting ran in Miguel Ferrer's blood. He was the son of José Ferrer, the first Puerto Rican and Hispanic actor to win an Academy Award. In 1955, five years winning the Oscar, the elder Ferrer had son Miguel with Rosemary Clooney.

Miguel kick-started his screen career in the early '80s, appearing on action shows like Magnum, P.I. and Miami Vice. One of his earlier roles was on CHiPs, as seen in the image above. Ferrer excelled at playing both criminals and gruff authority figures. In RoboCop he played a sleazy yuppie, while on Twin Peaks he appeared as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield. He also starred in Crossing Jordan for six seasons.

Most recently, he has appeared in more than 100 episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles. Earlier today, Ferrer died of cancer at the age of 61, according to the Associated Press.
